Wooden Children Playground – (Classic Series) Technical Specification The wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine. All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative. Metal components in the wooden play sets are electrostatically powder‑coated. Slides are made from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and handrails are covered with patterned rubber attached to metal frames. All our wood‑metal playground play sets are TSE certified and come with a 2‑year usage warranty and a 5‑year spare‑part warranty from the manufacturer. What is Preservative Treatment? Preservative treatment introduces chemicals into the wood to protect it from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; heartwood is naturally durable. To be treated, wood must be sapwood. The process varies with wood type, environment, and intended lifespan. Immersion Method Wood is fully submerged in a preservative‑filled tank, then allowed to air‑dry for 24 hours. This method is fast, efficient, and cost‑effective, requiring less time, labor, and storage than a pressure system. It is recommended for protecting untreated lumber before installation. Protective Agent Designed to prevent fungal and insect damage. For durability, finish with varnish to maintain the preservative’s protection. The preservative may slightly darken the wood but does not act as a colorant. Outdoor Covered Structures (e.g., picnic gazebo) retain protection for 1‑2 years. Urban furniture such as pergolas, benches, and picnic tables retain protection for 6 months to 1 year. Fill Varnish - Reaches sanding hardness in 2–4 hours (depending on temperature and humidity). - Fills wood pores. - Provides a smooth surface. - Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. - Sands easily. Gloss Varnish Provides the desired shine and slip resistance. It is physically hard, resistant to scratches and impacts, and chemically resistant to water, detergents, and other agents.
