Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine. All wood is pressure‑treated with a preservative. Metal components in the play sets are powder‑coated in an electrostatic oven. Slides are made from fiberglass or polyethylene. Steps and landing pads are fitted with patterned rubber over a metal frame. All of our wood‑metal playground sets are TSE certified and include a 2‑year usage warranty plus a 5‑year spare‑part guarantee from the manufacturer. Preservative Treatment Preservative treatment involves impregnating the wood with chemicals to protect it from fungi, insects and termites, thereby extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; heartwood is naturally resistant and does not absorb the solution. Only sapwood can be treated. The exact process varies according to wood species, installation environment and expected lifespan. Immersion Method In the immersion method, the wood is completely submerged in a tank of preservative solution and then left to cure for 24 hours. The method is fast, efficient and cost‑effective, offering lower labor and storage costs than a pressure system. It is recommended for protecting untreated lumber before installation. Protective Agent The agent prevents fungal and insect damage. For durability, it is advisable to follow up with a varnish coating that prolongs the preservative’s effectiveness. The preservative may impart a slight color tint to the wood but does not act as a pigment. Outdoor Protection In covered structures such as a picnic gazebo, the preservative provides 1–2 years of protection. For urban furniture like pergolas, benches or picnic tables, protection lasts 6 months to 1 year. Filling Varnish Applied varnish reaches sanding hardness within 2–4 hours (depending on temperature and humidity). It fills the wood’s pores, smooths the surface, reduces absorption of the final topcoat, and is easy to sand. Gloss Varnish Provides the desired shine and slip resistance. It is physically hard, resistant to scratches and impacts, and chemically resistant to water, detergents and other agents. The clear topcoat offers high transparency and durability.
