Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine. All timber is pressure‑treated with a preservative. The metal hardware used in the play sets is electrostatically oven‑painted. Slides are produced from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and handrails are fitted with patterned rubber over metal brackets. All of our wood‑metal playground play sets are TSE certified and come with a 2‑year usage guarantee and a 5‑year spare‑part warranty from the manufacturer. Preservative Treatment The preservative process forces chemicals into the wood to protect it from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The chemicals penetrate only the sapwood; heartwood remains naturally durable. Only sapwood is suitable for treatment. The method varies according to wood species, installation environment, and expected lifespan. Immersion Method As the name suggests, the timber is fully submerged in a preservative‑filled tank, then left to cure for 24 hours. This method is fast, efficient, and cost‑effective—requiring less labor and storage time than pressure treatment. Immersion is recommended for untreated lumber prior to installation. Protective Coating A protective coating prevents decay and insect damage. To maintain durability, a finish coating is advised after preservative treatment. The preservative adds a slight tint to the wood but does not function as a pigment. In covered structures such as a picnic gazebo, the preservative provides protection for 1–2 years. For urban fixtures like pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, protection lasts 6 months to 1 year. Filler Varnish • Reaches sanding hardness within 2–4 hours (depending on temperature and humidity). • Fills wood pores. • Improves surface smoothness. • Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. • Easy to sand. Gloss Varnish Provides the desired gloss level and slip resistance. It is physically hard, scratch‑ and impact‑resistant, and chemically resistant to water, detergents, and other agents. The final layer delivers a bright, high‑clarity finish.
