What Is Impregnation? Impregnation is the process of introducing various chemical substances into the wood structure by different methods. This process aims to protect the wood from pests such as fungi, insects, and termites, thereby extending its service life. The impregnation agent penetrates only the sapwood portion of the tree. Due to the dense grain of the heartwood, the impregnation solution does not penetrate the heartwood, which is naturally durable. The wood to be impregnated must be sapwood. The impregnation process varies depending on the wood species, the intended environment, and the expected service life. • It is a protective chemical. • It is intended to prevent wood from being attacked by termites and insects. • For durability, it is recommended to combine impregnation with varnish treatments to preserve its properties over a long period. Water-Based Varnish Water-based varnishes that are safe for human health and environmentally friendly dry more quickly and are odorless. Like traditional varnishes, water-based varnishes contain all the properties of conventional varnish, while also offering many additional benefits. Varnishes contain a volatile organic compound that evaporates into the air after application. Varnish manufacturers keep this substance at a safe level in their products to protect human health. However, water-based varnishes have a much lower proportion of this volatile component compared to oil-based varnishes. Water-based varnishes are easy to clean and are water-resistant. Because they dry much faster than oil-based varnishes, they are also easier to use. Where Is It Used? Varnish is used on all furniture and products made from wood. Water-based varnishes provide excellent results on these surfaces. After a proper sanding process, the fine finish of water-based varnish gives a pleasant appearance and is ideal in terms of strength and quality.
