Wood sections will be fabricated with a maximum tolerance of ±2 mm (0.1 in), and wood dimensions with a maximum tolerance of ±20 mm (0.8 in). Required wood qualities include: Knots – up to four sound knots per meter, each knot diameter not exceeding one‑quarter of the component width. No rotten, defective, partially fused, or fallen knots. Cracks – no ring cracks; hairline cracks (1–2 mm (0-0.1 in)) are permissible. Pressure‑treated specifications may allow acceptable axial and longitudinal cracks within tolerance limits. Resin pockets – at most one per meter, not exceeding 10 cm (3.9 in) in length. No leaking or pulling resin, inner shell, rot pockets, or insect holes. Manufacturing defects – none; only deviations within the specified tolerances are allowed. Bending – not exceeding 1/50 of the component length. Impact – not exceeding 1/100 of the component width. Torsion – not exceeding 2 mm (0.1 in) per meter of length. Compression bending – tolerated between 1/50 and 1/100 of the component length. Sanding – all visible surfaces will be sanded smooth to remove splinters.
