Wood sections will be fabricated with a maximum tolerance of ± 2 mm (0.1 in), and wood dimensions with a maximum tolerance of ± 20 mm (0.8 in). The wood material must meet the following criteria: Knots – up to four solid knots per meter may be present. Knot diameters will not exceed one‑quarter of the total piece width. No rotten, split, partially fused, or fallen knots are allowed. Cracks – ring cracks are not permitted. Fine hairline cracks (1–2 mm (0-0.1 in)) may be present. Cracks consistent with the specifications of pressure‑treated environments are acceptable if within tolerance limits. Resin pockets – at most one per meter, not exceeding 10 cm (3.9 in) in length. No leaking or pulling resin, inner core, rot cavities, or insect holes are permitted. No manufacturing defects are allowed; only deviations within the specified tolerances are acceptable. Deflection – will not exceed 1/50 of the member length. Impact – will not exceed 1/100 of the member width. Twist – will not exceed 2 mm (0.1 in) per meter of length. Bow‑deflection – will be tolerated between 1/50 and 1/100 of the member length. Sanding – all visible surfaces will be sanded smooth to remove splinters.
