POLYETHYLENE PRODUCTS Low or medium‑density linear polyethylene (LLDPE – Linear Low Density Polyethylene) is a thermoplastic used in a variety of products. It is a semi‑permeable, flexible and highly durable polymer. Because of its low cost and high resistance, it is very popular in industry. Polyethylene is classified into different categories based on density and chemical properties. Mechanical properties depend on molecular weight, crystalline structure and branching type. Although the properties differ between grades, general characteristics include good resistance to outdoor conditions and moisture, flexibility, low mechanical strength and excellent chemical resistance. Polyethylene products are used in the manufacture of slides, stairs, handrails, barriers, accessories, roofs, etc. To prevent color fading, masterbatch pigments used for coloring polyethylene must have a lightfastness value of 6 or higher. Material skin thickness must be at least 6 mm (0.2 in) for areas exposed to pressure and friction, and at least 4 mm (0.2 in) for barriers and shading components that are not subjected to pressure. The material must be distributed evenly to achieve uniform thickness. Skin thickness and dimensional tolerances are ±5 %. CARRIER CONSTRUCTION Minimum 114 mm (4.5 in) diameter steel tubes with a minimum 2 mm (0.1 in) skin thickness, conforming to TS EN 10219‑2, TS‑6476, DIN 2394 standards, will be cold‑formed and welded by high‑frequency welding. Tubes will be produced within the standard tolerances for dimensions and cross‑section. The carrier construction will consist of sandblasted steel tubes that are subsequently coated with a polyester‑based electrostatic powder paint. ELECTROSTATIC POWDER COATING All metal components will be sandblasted to remove oil, dirt and rust, creating a porous surface that improves paint adhesion. A fine‑ball material will be sprayed with pressurized air to open micro‑pores for better paint grip and to eliminate oil, rust and dirt from the metal surface. After fabrication, metal parts will be coated with a polyester‑based electrostatic powder and cured in a 200–220 °C oven for 20 minutes. Subsequently, components will undergo a 10‑minute dip in a 70 °C, 5 % concentration oil‑removal bath, followed by a 15‑minute immersion in a 50 °C, 1 % concentration iron bath. After rinsing and drying, the material will receive a durable polyester‑based electrostatic powder coating and will be cured in a 180–200 °C oven for 20–30 minutes. All welds will be painted in a single coat after welding to prevent corrosion.
