To provide strength and maintain its shape, the clamp is cold‑formed from 4 mm (0.2 in) thick black St37 steel sheet to grip a 4‑inch (89 mm) diameter pipe. Holes of 9.5 mm (0.4 in) diameter are punched on both sides of the sheet clamp at equal axial distances. The resulting sheet clamp is then coated with rubber using a hot‑pressing method. Width: 16 cm (6.3 in); Diameter: ø89; Volume: 0.30 m (11.8 in)³; Weight: 2.0 kg (4.4 lb).
