To provide strength and retain shape, a 4 mm (0.2 in) thick St37 grade black sheet steel is cold‑formed to grip a 4‑inch (114.3 mm) diameter pipe. Equal axis spacing is maintained and 9.5 mm (0.4 in) diameter holes are punched on both sides of the sheet clamp. The resulting clamp is then rubber‑coated using a hot‑press method. The rubber coating has a hardness of 55‑65 Shore A, a density of 1 g/cm³, and meets at least EN 20 CM (7.9 in) thickness specifications. Ø 114 mm (4.5 in), volume 0.35 m (13.8 in)³, weight 2.50 kg (5.5 lb).
