It is a semi‑permeable, pliable, and highly durable polymer, favored in industry for its low cost and high resistance. Polyethylene is classified into categories based on density and chemical properties. Its mechanical properties depend on molecular weight, crystalline structure, and branching type. Although properties vary by type, general characteristics include good resistance to outdoor conditions and moisture, flexibility, low mechanical strength, and excellent chemical resistance. Polyethylene products are used in the production of slides, stairs, railings, barriers, accessories, roofs, etc. To prevent color fading, masterbatch dyes used for coloring polyethylene products should have a lightfastness test value of 6 or higher. The product’s wall thickness must be at least 6 mm (0.2 in) for areas subject to pressure and friction, and at least 4 mm (0.2 in) for barriers and shading elements not subjected to pressure. Material distribution should be uniform to achieve consistent thickness. Wall thickness and dimensional tolerances are ±5 %.
