Climbing Ropes: 16 mm (0.6 in) diameter, UV‑protected, fire‑retardant polyamide (nylon) rope cable. Each rope consists of six strands, each wrapped around a core reinforced with 24 steel reinforcement wires, totaling 144 steel reinforcement wires. The ends have finished aluminum sleeves attached to the cable and a galvanized steel wear‑resistant rod with a joining loop. Edge ropes contain steel cables wrapped around a core for a total of 168 steel reinforcement wires. Binding Balls: A single compressed aluminum ball (150 000 lb/667 kN) used to prevent the connection form from moving and premature cable wear. Sliding Surface: A 13 mm (0.5 in) thick rubber pad reinforced with textile, attached to the cable with two‑piece bolted aluminum connectors that have drainage holes to reduce rope wear. Base Connection Elements: All attachment hardware for component assemblies is stainless steel.
