Sandblasting and Electrostatic Powder Coating Details After sandblasting, degreasing and phosphoric acid wash, and drying, the metal components must be coated with a lead‑free polyester‑based powder paint to a thickness of 80–110 µm. The sandblasting process removes oil, grime and rust that could prevent proper adhesion, and creates a profile for better paint grip. Sandblasting is performed by propelling fine metal beads into a pressure‑resistant cabinet using compressed air. After sandblasting, the metal parts are coated with the polyester‑based electrostatic paint and then cured in an oven at a minimum of 200–220 °C for 30 minutes to complete the coating.
