Wooden Children's Playground – (Classic Series) Technical Specification Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine, imported grade 1. All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative injection. Metal components in the wooden play sets are powder‑coated in an electrostatic oven. Slides are made from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and landing pads are covered with patterned rubber on metal frames. Preservative treatment involves impregnating wood with various chemicals to protect it from fungi, insects, and termites, thereby extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; heartwood is naturally durable and does not accept the solution. Consequently, the wood must be sapwood for treatment. The process varies according to wood species, environment, and expected lifespan. In the dip method, the wood is fully submerged in a tank of preservative solution, then allowed to dry for 24 hours. This method is fast, efficient, and economical, requiring less time, labor, and storage cost than pressure treatment, making it a cheaper alternative. Immersing untreated wood before installation is recommended. The preservative acts as a protective agent against termites and insects. For durability, a finish is recommended to maintain the preservative’s effect over time. The preservative may impart a slight tint to the wood but does not function as a stain. In covered structures such as a picnic gazebo, protection lasts 1–2 years. For urban fixtures like pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, the protective effect ranges from six months to one year.
