Wooden Children's Playground – Classic Series Technical Specification Manufacturing of wooden playground play sets, features, dimensions… Wooden play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine, imported as Grade 1. All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative. Metal components in the wooden play sets are electrostatically oven‑painted. Slides are made from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and the landing platforms are covered with patterned rubber over metal frames. All of our wood‑metal playground play sets are TSE certified and come with a two‑year usage warranty and a five‑year spare‑parts warranty from the manufacturer. What Is Preservative Treatment? Preservative treatment is the process of impregnating wood with various chemicals using different methods. This process protects the wood from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The preservative solution penetrates only the sapwood; the heartwood, being naturally durable, does not absorb the chemicals. Therefore, the wood to be treated must be sapwood. The treatment method varies according to wood species, environment, and expected service life. Dipping Method As the name suggests, the wood is completely submerged in a tank filled with preservative solution and then left to dry for 24 hours. The method is fast, efficient, and economical. Because it requires less time, labor, and storage than pressurized systems, it is cheaper. Dipping is recommended for protecting untreated wood components. Protective Agent The agent prevents infestation by beetles and termites. For durability, a finish coating is recommended to maintain the preservative’s properties over a long period. The preservative may slightly tint the wood but does not act as a coloring agent. In enclosed structures such as gazebos, protection lasts 1–2 years. For urban fixtures like pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, the protection lasts 6 months to 1 year. Filling Varnish - Reaches sandable hardness within 2–4 hours after application (varies with ambient temperature and humidity). - Fills the wood’s pores. - Provides a smooth surface. - Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. - Easy to sand. Gloss Varnish Provides the desired sheen and slip resistance on the applied surface. Physically it is hard, scratch‑resistant, and impact‑resistant; chemically it resists water, detergents, and other chemicals. It is the final clear coat with a bright, high‑clarity appearance.
