Wooden Playground Play Set – (Classic Series) Technical Specification Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from first‑grade imported local yellow pine. All wood is pressure‑treated for preservation. The metal components used in the playground play sets are electrostatically oven‑painted. Slides are produced from fiberglass or polyethylene material. Stair treads and seating areas are metal frames covered with patterned rubber. All wood‑metal playground play sets are TSE certified and include a 2‑year usage guarantee and a 5‑year spare‑part guarantee from the manufacturer. What is Pressure Treatment? Pressure treatment is the process of impregnating wood with various chemical agents using different methods. This treatment protects the wood from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; the heartwood, which is naturally durable, remains untreated. The wood to be treated must contain sapwood. The treatment method varies according to wood species, intended environment, and expected service life. In the immersion method, the wood is completely submerged in a tank filled with preservative solution and then left to cure for 24 hours. This method is quick, efficient, and cost‑effective, offering lower labor and storage costs compared with pressurised systems. Immersion is recommended for protecting untreated wood components. Protective Agent The aim is to prevent termite and insect attacks. For durability, a varnish finish is advised to maintain the preservative’s protective qualities over a long period. The preservative may slightly colour the wood but does not function as a pigment. In enclosed structures (e.g., picnic gazebo) it provides 1‑2 years of protection. For city‑furniture items such as pergola, benches, and picnic tables, protection lasts 6 months to 1 year. Filling Varnish - Reaches sanding‑ready hardness within 2–4 hours after application (may vary with ambient temperature and humidity). - Fills wood pores. - Provides a smooth surface. - Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. - Sands easily. Gloss Varnish - Gives the desired level of gloss and slip resistance on the coated surface. - Physically: hard, resistant to scratches and impacts. - Chemically: resistant to water, detergents, and other chemical agents. - Serves as the final clear coat with a bright, high‑clarity appearance.
