All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative. Metal components used in the wooden play sets are electrostatically oven‑painted. Slides are made from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and deck plates are covered with patterned rubber on a metal frame. All of our wood‑metal playground play sets are TSE certified and come with a 2‑year usage guarantee and a 5‑year spare‑part warranty from the manufacturer. What Is Preservative Treatment? Preservative treatment involves impregnating the wood with various chemicals through different methods. This process protects the wood from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; it does not enter the heartwood, which is naturally durable. Therefore, the wood to be treated must be sapwood. The treatment method varies according to wood species, intended environment, and expected service life. In the dip‑treatment method, the wood is fully submerged in a tank of preservative solution and then allowed to cure for 24 hours. The method is fast, efficient, and economical. Because it requires less time, labor, and storage than a pressure system, it is cheaper. Dipping is recommended for protecting untreated wood before installation. Protective Agent The purpose is to prevent wood from being attacked by termites and insects. For durability, a varnish coating is recommended to preserve the preservative’s effect over time. The preservative may slightly tint the wood but does not act as a coloring agent. In covered structures (e.g., picnic gazebo) the protection lasts 1–2 years. For urban furniture such as pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, the protective effect lasts 6 months to 1 year. Filling Varnish • Reaches sandable hardness within 2–4 hours after application (dependent on ambient temperature and humidity). • Fills the wood’s pores. • Provides a smooth surface. • Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. • Sands easily. Gloss Varnish Provides the desired gloss level and slip resistance on the applied surface. Physically it is hard, resistant to scratches and impacts; chemically it resists water, detergents, and other chemicals. It is the final transparent topcoat with a bright, high‑clarity finish.
