All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative. Metal components in the wooden play sets are electrostatically powder‑coated. Slides are made of fiberglass or polyethylene. Preservative treatment is the process of impregnating wood with various chemicals by different methods. This process protects the wood from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; it does not affect the heartwood, which is naturally durable. Therefore, only sapwood is suitable for treatment. The treatment method varies according to wood species, intended environment, and expected service life. In the dip‑treatment method, the wood is fully submerged in a tank of preservative solution and then left to cure for 24 hours. The method is fast, efficient, and cost‑effective; it requires less time, labor, and storage cost than pressurized systems, making it cheaper. Dip‑treatment is recommended for protecting untreated wood before assembly. The preservative acts as a protective agent to prevent wood from being attacked by termites and insects. For durability, it is recommended to apply a finish coating to preserve the preservative's properties over the long term. The preservative may slightly tint the wood but does not function as a pigment. In covered structures such as a gazebo, protection lasts 1–2 years. For urban furniture items such as pergola, bench, or picnic table, protection lasts 6 months to 1 year.
