Wooden Children’s Playground – (Classic Series) Technical Specification Manufacture, Features, Dimensions of Wooden Playground Play Sets… Our wooden play sets are produced from locally sourced yellow pine, imported grade 1. All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative. Metal components used in the wooden play sets are powder‑coated in an electrostatic oven. Slides are manufactured from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and landing pads are covered with patterned rubber on a metal frame. All of our wood‑metal children’s playground play sets are TSE certified and come with a 2‑year usage guarantee and a 5‑year spare‑part guarantee from the manufacturer. What is Preservative Treatment? Preservative treatment is the process of impregnating wood with various chemicals using different methods. This process protects the wood from fungi, insects, and termites, extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; it does not reach heartwood because the dense structure of heartwood prevents absorption. Heartwood is naturally durable. Treated wood must consist of sapwood. The treatment method varies depending on wood species, intended environment, and expected service life. Immersion Method As the name suggests, the wood is fully submerged in a tank filled with preservative solution and then left to cure for 24 hours. The method is fast, efficient and economical. Because immersion requires less time, lower labor and storage costs, it is cheaper than a pressure system. Immersion is recommended for protecting untreated wood prior to installation. Protective Agent It is intended to prevent termite and insect infestation. For durability, a finish coating is recommended to preserve the preservative’s properties over time. The preservative may slightly tint the wood but does not act as a pigment. In covered structures (e.g., gazebo) it offers 1–2 years of protection. For urban furniture such as pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, protection lasts 6 months to 1 year. Gloss Varnish Creates the desired gloss level and slip resistance on the applied surface. Physically it is hard, resistant to scratches and impacts; chemically it resists water, detergents and other chemicals. It is the final clear coat with a bright, high‑clarity finish.
