Wood sections will be cut with a maximum tolerance of ±2 mm (0.1 in), and wood dimensions with a maximum tolerance of ±20 mm (0.8 in). Required wood characteristics include: - Knots: Each meter may contain up to four sound knots. Knot diameters will not exceed one‑quarter of the part width. No rotten, split, or fallen knots will be present. - Cracks: No ring cracks will be allowed. Hairline cracks (1‑2 mm (0.1 in)) may occur. Pressure‑treated wood may have head and longitudinal cracks within tolerance limits. - Resin pockets: Each meter may contain a single resin pocket not longer than 10 cm (3.9 in). No dripping or pulling resin, inner bark, rot cavities, or insect holes will be present. - Manufacturing defects: None, except for allowed tolerances. - Bending: Deflection will not exceed 1/50 of the member length. - Impact: Impact marks will not exceed 1/100 of the member width. - Twisting: Twist will not exceed 2 mm (0.1 in) per meter. - Compression bending: Deflection will be tolerated between 1/50 and 1/100 of the member length. - Sanding: All visible surfaces will be sanded smooth. Primary Supports: Support legs will be fabricated from two pieces of pine lumber, each at least 90 × 90 mm (3.5 x 3.5 in), with diamond‑tipped, specially patterned blades. The support legs will be 240 cm (94.5 in) high. Roof: The roof's supporting slats will be made from 50 × 100 mm (2 x 3.9 in) wood. Two corners of each slat will be routed to shape them. Additional decorative slats, also 50 × 100 mm (2 x 3.9 in), will be machined with diamond‑tipped, specially patterned blades and installed on the support slats. All fixed connections will use special galvanized wood screws. Seating Unit: The seating unit will use two L‑shaped wooden legs, each at least 40 × 90 mm (1.6 x 3.5 in), attached with special galvanized screws—one end to the support frame, the other to the seating slat. On the L‑legs, four decorative wooden slats (minimum 40 × 90 mm (1.6 x 3.5 in), diamond‑tipped) and two vertical back slats (minimum 40 × 90 mm (1.6 x 3.5 in)) will be mounted with special galvanized screws. Anchoring: Under each support leg a 150 × 150 × 5 mm (5.9 x 5.9 x 0.2 in) flange will be welded to a 90 × 70 × 5 mm (3.5 x 2.8 x 0.2 in) stud, and a 12 mm (0.5 in) diameter hole will be drilled. Anchors will be welded to the underside of the supports and bolted to the ground with steel dowels, preventing water contact with the wood and securing the legs. Pergola anchors will be welded on at least two sides of the minimum‑3 mm (0.1 in)‑thick flange. Six special screws will be driven per leg for the anchor connection, and two dowel screws per leg for the ground connection. All metal components will be powder‑coated with polyester‑based paint in a furnace.
