Sections are cut with a maximum tolerance of ±2 mm (0.1 in); overall dimensions with a tolerance of ±20 mm (0.8 in). Acceptable wood characteristics: up to four solid knots per piece, with total knot diameter not exceeding one‑quarter of the piece width; no rot, decay, partially fused, or missing knots. No ring cracks; fine hairline cracks (1‑2 mm (0.1 in)) are permitted. Pressure‑treated timber may show head‑ and butt‑cracks within tolerance limits. Resin pockets: up to one per metre, not exceeding 10 cm (3.9 in) in length; no dripping or pulling resin, no inner bark, rot cavities, or insect holes. Bending deflection will not exceed 1/50 of the piece length. Saw marks will not exceed 1/100 of the piece width.
