To provide strength and retain its shape, the 4 mm (0.2 in) thick black ST37 steel sheet is cold‑formed to encircle a 4‑inch (89 mm) diameter. Holes of 9.5 mm (0.4 in) diameter are punched on both sides of the sheet clamp, spaced equally along the axis. The resulting sheet clamp is then rubber‑coated using a hot‑pressing method.
