Wooden Children’s Playground – (Classic Series) Technical Specification Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced Class 1 yellow pine. All wood is pressure‑treated with impregnation. Metal components used in the wooden playground play sets are powder‑coated in an electrostatic oven. Slides are produced from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair steps and ground pads are covered with patterned rubber on a metal frame. All of our wood‑metal children’s playground play sets are TSE certified and include a 2‑year usage guarantee and a 5‑year spare‑parts guarantee from the manufacturer. What Is Impregnation? Impregnation is the process of introducing various chemical agents into wood using different methods to protect the material from fungi, insects, and beetles, thereby extending its service life. The impregnation agent penetrates only the sapwood; it does not reach the heartwood, which is naturally durable. Therefore, the wood to be impregnated must be sapwood. The impregnation process varies depending on wood species, intended environment, and expected service life. The immersion method, as the name suggests, involves submerging the wood in a tank of impregnation solution and then allowing it to dry for 24 hours. This method is fast, efficient, and economical; it requires less time, labor, and storage cost than pressure‑techniques, making it a cheaper option. Immersion is recommended for protecting untreated wood components. Protective Treatment The treatment aims to prevent wood decay and insect damage. For durability, varnish applications are recommended to maintain the impregnation’s protective properties over time. The impregnation material may slightly tint the wood but does not function as a coloring agent. Indoor protection (e.g., under a picnic gazebo) lasts 1‑2 years. Outdoor structures such as pergolas, benches, and picnic tables retain protective effects for 6 months to 1 year. Filling Varnish - Reaches sanding hardness within 2–4 hours after application (time may vary with temperature and humidity). - Fills wood pores. - Provides a smooth surface. - Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. - Easy to sand. Gloss Varnish - Gives the applied surface the desired gloss level and slip resistance. - Physically hard, resistant to scratches and impacts. - Chemically resistant to water, detergents, and other chemicals. - Serves as the final clear coat with high transparency and a vibrant appearance.
