Wooden Children's Playground – (Classic Series) Technical Specification Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine. All wood is pressure‑treated with preservative. Metal components in the wooden play sets are powder‑coated in an electrostatic oven. Slides are made of fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and handrails are covered with patterned rubber over a metal frame. All of our wood‑metal children’s playground play sets are TSE certified and come with a 2‑year usage and 5‑year spare‑part warranty from the manufacturer. What is Preservative Treatment? Preservative treatment involves impregnating wood with various chemicals using different methods. This process protects the wood from rot, insects, and other pests, extending its service life. The preservative penetrates only the sapwood; it does not affect the heartwood, which is naturally durable. Only sapwood is suitable for treatment. The specific treatment depends on wood species, installation environment, and expected service life. In the dip‑treatment method, the wood is fully submerged in a tank of preservative solution, then left to dry for 24 hours. The method is fast, efficient, and economical. Because it requires less time, labor, and storage than pressure treatment, it is cheaper. Dip treatment is recommended for protecting unassembled wood components. Protective Agent The purpose is to prevent fungal decay and insect damage. For durability, a finish coat is recommended to preserve the preservative’s properties for a longer period. The preservative may slightly tint the wood but does not act as a pigment. In covered structures (e.g., gazebo) it provides protection for 1–2 years. In city‑furniture items such as pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, protection lasts 6 months to 1 year. Filling Varnish • Reaches sanding hardness in 2–4 hours after application (dependent on ambient temperature and humidity). • Fills the wood’s pores. • Provides a smooth surface. • Reduces absorption of the final topcoat, saving time and material. • Sandable with ease. Gloss Varnish Creates the desired gloss level and slip resistance on the applied surface. Physically, it is hard, resistant to scratches and impacts; chemically, it resists water, detergents, and other chemicals. It is a clear, high‑gloss finish that offers excellent durability.
