Wooden Playground – (Classic Series) Technical Specifications Wooden playground play sets are manufactured from locally sourced yellow pine. All timber is pressure‑treated with impregnation. The metal components used in the play sets are painted in an electrostatic oven. Slides are made from fiberglass or polyethylene. Stair treads and handrails are metal frames wrapped with patterned rubber. Impregnation is the process of introducing various chemicals into wood to protect it from decay agents such as fungi, insects, and beetles, thereby extending its service life. The chemicals penetrate only the sapwood; they do not affect the heartwood, which is naturally durable. Impregnation requires sapwood to be present and varies according to wood species, installation environment, and expected service life. In the dip‑treatment method, timber is fully immersed in a tank of impregnation solution, then allowed to cure for 24 hours. This method is fast, efficient, and cost‑effective, requiring less time, labor, and storage than pressure‑treatment, making it the preferred choice for protecting untreated timber. Protective Agent The treatment prevents fungal and insect attacks. For added durability, a finish coat is recommended to preserve the impregnation’s properties over time. The impregnation agent may slightly tint the wood but does not function as a pigment. In covered structures such as a picnic gazebo, protection lasts 1–2 years. For outdoor furniture like pergolas, benches, and picnic tables, the protective effect lasts 6 months to 1 year.
