Wood sections will be cut with a maximum tolerance of ±2 mm (0.1 in), and wood dimensions with a maximum tolerance of ±20 mm (0.8 in). Desired wood characteristics include: * Knots: Each piece may contain up to 4 solid knots. Knot diameters will not exceed one quarter of the total part width. No cracked, split, partially rotted, or fallen knots will be present. * Cracks: No ring cracks will be present. Microscopic cracks (1-2 mm (0-0.1 in)) may occur. Pressure-treated specifications may allow appropriate longitudinal and transverse cracks within tolerance limits. * Resin pockets: Each piece may have one resin pocket not exceeding 10 cm (3.9 in) in length. No leaking or pulling resin will be present. No inner shell, rot cavities, or insect holes will be present. * Manufacturing defects: None; only deviations within the defined tolerances are allowed. * Bending: Will not exceed 1/50 of the part length. * Impact: Will not exceed 1/100 of the part width. * Twist: Will not exceed 2 mm (0.1 in) per meter of length. * Torsional bending: Tolerated between 1/50 and 1/100 of the part length. * Sanding: All visible surfaces will be sanded clean of splinters. Wood Carriers: - Carrier legs will be manufactured from pine lumber measuring at least 40 x 90 mm (1.6 x 3.5 in), shaped with diamond-tipped special knives and given a decorative motif.
