Wood sections will be cut with a maximum tolerance of ±2 mm (0.1 in), and overall dimensions will be limited to a tolerance of ±20 mm (0.8 in). Required wood characteristics include: - Knots: each piece may contain up to four sound knots; the total diameter of the knots will not exceed one‑quarter of the part’s width. No rotten, split, or partially fallen knots will be present. - Cracks: no ring cracks; minor hairline cracks (1–2 mm (0-0.1 in)) may occur. Pressure‑treated wood may contain acceptable head‑ and length‑wise cracks within tolerance limits. - Resin pockets: at most one pocket per piece, not longer than 10 cm (3.9 in); no dripping or sucking resin will be present. - No inner bark, rot holes, or insect holes will be found. Manufacturing defects are not allowed; only the specified tolerances may cause deviation. Deflection will not exceed 1/50 of the part length; impact marks will not exceed 1/100 of the part width. Twist will not exceed 2 mm (0.1 in) per meter of length. Bending tolerance will be between 1/50 and 1/100 of the part length. All visible surfaces will be sanded smooth. Main carriers: Carrier legs will be fabricated from two pieces of pine lumber, each at least 90 × 90 mm (3.5 x 3.5 in), cut with diamond‑tipped specialty knives to create a motif. The height of the carrier legs will be 240 cm (94.5 in). Roof: The supporting slats for the pergola roof will be made from 50 × 100 mm (2 x 3.9 in) wood. Two corners of each slat will be shaped on a router. Additional decorative slats, also 50 × 100 mm (2 x 3.9 in), will be formed with diamond‑tipped, motif‑giving knives. All fixed connections will use special galvanized wood screws. Seating unit: The seating unit will include two L‑shaped wood legs, each at least 40 × 90 mm (1.6 x 3.5 in), attached at one end to the carrier and at the other end to the seating slat with galvanized screws. On the L‑legs four decorative wood slats, each at least 40 × 90 mm (1.6 x 3.5 in) and shaped with diamond‑tipped knives, will be mounted, along with two vertical back slats of the same size, also fastened with galvanized screws. Anchoring: Under each carrier leg a flange of 150 × 150 × 5 mm (5.9 x 5.9 x 0.2 in) will be welded to a 90 × 70 × 5 mm (3.5 x 2.8 x 0.2 in) plate, and a 12 mm (0.5 in)‑diameter hole will be drilled. Anchors will be bolted to the underside of the carrier legs and secured to the ground with steel dowels. This prevents water contact with the wood and secures the legs to the foundation. Pergola anchors will be welded to a minimum of two sides of the flange, leaving a 3 mm (0.1 in) gap. Six special screws will be inserted into each leg for the connection to the vertical members, and two dowel screws per leg will secure the assembly to the ground. All metal components will be powder‑coated with a polyester‑based finish and baked in a furnace.
